Turned from a specially selected piece of Ash, chosen for its unique grain pattern, the exterior of the box has been intentionally crafted to be extremely tactile; presenting a juxtaposition to its smoothness with contrasting texture in the centre band.
Stained with Intrinsic Black and highlighted with Bronze embellishing wax to illuminate the grain, the textured band has been brushed with a matching finish to compliment the metallic-effect finish.
The top of the bowl has been gently concaved, drawing the eye in toward the centre, where the unique and elegant bronze coloured cast lid locates. The lid itself depicts a suitably oriental mural of a phoenix dancing with a dragon, the Lords of the Chinese world; auspicious in symbolising the perfect balance of Yin and Yang.
Whist designed as a trinket or jewellery box, the pierced lid also lends itself to the piece being utilised as a room diffuser or pot pourri bowl is desired
