A handmade platter with a wide painted rim
The platter is made from a specially selected piece of wood that was mounted on the lathe and the underside turned to shape, sanded and polished.
The piece was then turned around and the trim of the platter was shaped and sanded.
The rim was the given a coat of black ebonizing lacquer then when dry acrylic paints of yellow, orange and red were applied to the rim. Then the rim was coated with clear lacquer.
When dry the inner of the platter was hollowed out to the desired shape, then sanded and polished to give a smooth tactile finish and shine.
