Description
We love every piece we make, and we like to think it shows, but there are some that simply take our breath away.
With its stunningly simplistic and highly tactile basin shape, it’s breathtaking to see this bowl has everything you could possibly wish for.
Sugar Maple is native to the Pacific Northwest; North America and Canada.
Curly Maple can be found in several species but, like this piece, more specific to the Sugar Maple. Even more extraordinary is the Quilted grain discovery, found in fewer than 1% of Maple trees.
Even more rare, is to find a piece that is Flamed, Quilted and Curly; with the figuring created by a mixture of genetics and growing conditions, the highly figured properties of this bowl are exceptionally unique and undoubtedly one of a kind
To make this bowl even more remarkable is the art of Kintsugi to embellish the natural grain pattern. Kintsugi, or “Golden Joinery” is the Japanese Art of highlighting a breakage or repair rather than disguising it. There are of course no breakages in this piece, the natural openings created by a knot and in the end-grain have been skillfully infilled with gold to further add luxury to this highly desirable handmade bowl
Hand turned and sanded to an exceptional cessation, this bowl has also been treated with a food safe finish to prolong its use as a fruit bowl if desired, and to extend its longevity
